Synopsis

Pengzu Yin-Yang Harmony Arts (originally known as Pengzu Yinyang Tiaohe Shu) originated with the Yellow Emperor, was systematized by Pengzu, lost during the era of Empress Dowager Cixi, and revived by Aiqing — enduring over five millennia of transformation, it remains the wellspring of Chinese wellness culture.

As the founder of contemporary Aiqing Pengzu Yin-Yang Harmony Arts, Aiqing built upon the core practices of the Pengzu-Xu Fu Dao lineage, integrating Daoist breathing and internal alchemy (Tu Na Dan Gong) with the foundation-building standing post (Zhuang Gong) of Yiquan (Dachengquan) — uniting three disciplines to create Aiqing Pengzu Yin-Yang Harmony Arts.

Authored solely by third-generation lineage holder Aiqing, this book traces from the Yellow Emperor to the present day, spanning five thousand years across twelve volumes, systematically chronicling the complete journey of this ancient wellness wisdom — from origin and formation, through flourishing and distortion, to near-extinction and contemporary revival.

Organized chronologically, the book covers twelve historical stages: ancient foundations, Spring and Autumn theoretical formation, Han dynasty Huang-Lao transmission, Wei-Jin transformation, Sui-Tang theoretical elevation, Five Dynasties preservation, Song-Liao-Xia-Jin multi-lineage transmission, Yuan-Ming-Qing suppression, modern extinction, overseas dissemination, and contemporary revival. It incorporates archaeological evidence from Sanxingdui and Jinsha, textual research from Mawangdui silk manuscripts, and comparative studies with Axial Age civilizations including Buddhism, ancient Greece, and ancient India — revealing how Pengzu's core philosophy of "human-centeredness, yin-yang harmony, and heaven-human unity" profoundly shaped the secular and realist character of Chinese civilization.

As the mandatory official textbook for all students of Pengzu Institute Japan, this book employs triple verification through textual research, archaeological discovery, and practical study — aiming to reconstruct the formation and evolution of the theoretical system, correct historical misunderstandings, and uncover contemporary relevance — so that the vitality of five thousand years of Chinese traditional wellness wisdom may shine anew.
